La Casa Libertad Transitional Living Program (LCL)
After 10 years of successfully operating an emergency youth shelter, YSFS launched La Casa Libertad Transitional Living Program. Fondly referred to as LCL, program serves homeless youth and pregnant/parenting adolescents ages 16-21 for up to 1 ½ years in a 24-hour supervised apartment setting. LCL allows youth to build life skills and save money so that they can move out on their own and be become independent and contributing members of society.

This essential affordable housing option for Santa Fe and northern New Mexico youth is located in downtown Santa Fe on N. Guadalupe Street next door to the YSFS First Contact Street Outreach Program. One of the program’s primary objectives is to help young people to identify their strengths as well as those areas they want to develop. As all YSFS programs, LCL uses a strengths-based approach, assisting residents in finding solutions and accomplishing goals that will take them to a new level of independence. Success in the program is measured by how well each individual succeeds in meeting the goals they set.

LCL can house up to 7-8 young people at any given time, some of them with infants or young children. LCL residents have busy schedules with school and work. They are asked to pay a sliding scale amount of rent, which is returned to them in full when they leave the program.
